A chassis specification is only useful when it names real materials. Vague wording such as "heavy-duty chassis" tells you nothing; "150 x 50 mm RHS, hot-dipped galvanised inside and out" tells you what was ordered, what was paid for and what can be verified.
The export specifications that LZM publishes on its caravan product pages show the level of detail an importer should expect. The 12-foot, 16-foot and 17-foot models, for example, are listed with a chassis of 150 x 50 mm RHS (rectangular hollow section) steel with 3 mm walls, and the 16-foot and 17-foot drawbars step up to a heavier 4 mm wall. The 19-foot model is listed with Q460 galvanised steel RHS — a higher-strength structural grade — and the 22-foot model likewise uses 150 x 50 x 3 mm RHS. Chassis and drawbar sections differ between sizes and configurations, so the sheet for the exact model you order is what counts.

Rust protection is where cheap caravans cut corners, because corrosion is invisible in a showroom photo. The industry-standard answer for off-road frames is hot-dip galvanising, where the complete fabricated chassis is dipped in molten zinc so the coating bonds to the steel — including the inside of a hollow section, which cannot be painted after assembly.
LZM's published specifications for several export models state "hot-dipped galvanised inside and out" for both the chassis and the drawbar. That phrase matters for two reasons. First, "inside" means the hollow section is protected internally, which is exactly where internal corrosion starts. Second, hot-dip galvanising is applied to the finished welded frame, so the coating also protects the welds — the areas most vulnerable to rust on a painted chassis.
What an importer should check about rust protection:
Importers sometimes treat the drawbar and coupling as accessories. They are structural: the drawbar transmits the entire towing load from the caravan to the tow vehicle, and the coupling is the safety-critical link between the two.
On LZM's export range, the drawbar is specified at the same 150 x 50 mm section as the main chassis — and on models such as the 16-foot and 17-foot versions it is stepped to a heavier 4 mm wall — with couplings named by brand and rating rather than left vague.
